The Bel Canto e.One S500 is a dual-channel power amplifier part of Bel Canto Design’s popular e.One compact component line. It was designed during a pivotal transition era in high-end audio, proving that compact Class-D amplifiers could deliver massive, clean power alongside refined, audiophile-grade musicality.

Core Architecture & Design

  • ICEpower Technology: The S500 is built around Bang & Olufsen ICEpower modules (specifically dual 125ASX2 modules configured in bridge mode/dual-mono implementation).

  • Custom Input Stage: Rather than using stock ICEpower boards off the shelf, Bel Canto engineered a proprietary input stage. This design raised the input impedance to 100k ohms per side and significantly increased common-mode rejection, which dramatically improved high-frequency distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, and compatibility with various preamplifiers.
