The Cambridge Audio Edge A is the flagship integrated amplifier built to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. It represents Cambridge Audio’s effort to produce an ultra-high-end "cost-no-object" component, combining reference-grade analog amplification with a high-resolution DAC and distinctive industrial design.

Highlights & Engineering Features

  • Class XA Amplification: Instead of standard Class A (which runs hot) or Class AB (which can introduce crossover distortion), Cambridge engineered Class XA. It shifts the crossover point out of audible range, giving the sonic purity of Class A with significantly better heat efficiency.

  • Opposing Symmetry Twin Transformers: The amp uses two toroidal transformers stacked in opposite directions. This design cancels out electromagnetic stray fields, practically eliminating transformer hum.

  • Short Signal Paths: To preserve signal clarity, the board design utilizes direct-coupled architecture, omitting capacitors from the signal path entirely.

  • Dual-Concentric Control Knob: The front panel features a single, custom-engineered dual-concentric dial that handles both volume and source selection, built using 31 precision-machined mechanical components.
