The Ophidian Mambo 2 is a compact, high-performance floorstanding speaker handmade in the UK by Sheffield-based Ophidian Audio. Designed specifically for modern living spaces where massive speaker cabinets aren't practical, the Mambo 2 delivers a surprisingly deep, controlled bass response and a large soundstage despite its exceptionally slender profile.

Key Technical Features

  • 3-Driver / Internal Bass Setup: On the front baffle, it features two 115mm (4.5") coated-paper drivers alongside a 27mm Sonolex-coated fabric dome tweeter. Crucially, there is a third hidden 115mm driver built inside the cabinet structure dedicated solely to extending low frequencies without expanding the speaker's external depth or width.

  • AEROFLEX Port System: Ophidian uses its proprietary AEROFLEX loading system—a specialized internal transmission-line/port hybrid structure. This system regulates air velocity to eliminate port chuffing and keep bass tight and agile, while simultaneously reinforcing the cabinet's internal wall rigidity to minimize unwanted cabinet vibration.
  • Mirror-Imaged Layout: The drivers on the front baffle are arranged in a mirror-image layout, allowing you to position the speakers with the tweeters on the inside or outside depending on your room acoustics and soundstage preference.
  • Premium Crossover Components: Uses high-grade Mundorf crossover components for clean frequency division and minimal signal degradation.
