The Rega Kyte (often referred to informally as the Kyte 2, as it is the modern reboot of Rega's original 1990s Kyte speaker) is a distinctive, entry-level bookshelf speaker made in the UK. It is well-regarded for offering fast, detailed, and rhythmic sound in an unusual enclosure design.

Key Features & Design Innovations

  • Phenolic Resin Cabinet: Instead of standard MDF (wood), the enclosure is injection-molded from thermoset phenolic resin—the same dense material Rega uses for turntable sub-platters. It is reinforced with internal ceramic damping plates and cross-bracing to minimize cabinet coloration and panel vibration at a lower manufacturing cost.

  • In-House Drivers: Features a handmade Rega MX-125 125mm mid/bass driver (with a 4-layer voice coil) and a proprietary Rega ZRR (Zero Rear Reflection) dome tweeter.
