Optimized for use with High/Variable-Current components (power conditioners, power amplifiers, receivers, integrated amplifiers, powered subwoofers, powered speakers), Tornado High-Current AC cable features Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, 6% Silver drain wires, 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), ZERO-Tech for uncompressed current transfer, and RF/ND-Tech to cancel induced RF-noise.

Key Technology & Design

AudioQuest markets the Tornado as a "Low-Z" (Low Impedance) cable, which focuses on noise dissipation and uncompressed current delivery.

  • Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC & PSC+): The cable uses a blend of high-purity Solid Perfect-Surface Copper and its even higher-grade counterpart, PSC+. These conductors are designed to eliminate "strand interaction"—a major source of distortion in typical stranded cables.
  • 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): You’ll notice a battery pack attached to the cable. This creates a strong, stable electrostatic field that polarizes the insulation. The goal is to minimize energy storage in the dielectric (insulation) to prevent time-smearing and background noise.
  • ZERO-Tech (Zero Characteristic Impedance): This technology is intended to allow for uncompressed current transfer. It is particularly effective for power amplifiers, which need to draw large, fast bursts of current during dynamic musical peaks.
  • Ground-Noise Dissipation: It uses a patented system to drain RF (Radio Frequency) noise away from the ground wire, preventing it from entering your audio components' sensitive circuits.
