The Atoll DR100 Evolution (EVO) is a high-end dedicated CD transport designed and manufactured in France by Atoll Electronique. Unlike a standard CD player, it contains no built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Its single job is to read disc data as accurately as possible and stream a clean, ultra-low-jitter digital signal via optical or coaxial cables to an external DAC or an integrated amplifier with digital inputs.

The Atoll Electronique DR100 Evolution (Evo) is a dedicated audiophile CD transport designed and built in France. Unlike traditional CD players, a transport omits internal Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) and analog output stages, focusing entirely on reading the disc accurately and sending a clean, low-jitter digital signal to an external DAC or integrated amplifier with digital inputs.

Key Technical Features

  • Pure Audio Drive Mechanism: Uses a latest-generation, centrally mounted TEAC CD mechanism (custom-optimized with anti-vibration damping) dedicated exclusively to reading redbook audio CDs and data discs (CD-R/RW).

  • Dedicated Power Supplies: Features a clean linear power supply with a 30 VA toroidal transformer for the digital output stages, alongside a separate 1.6 VA low-consumption power supply for logic and control circuitry. Total power filtering capacitance sits at 15,000 µF.
  • Jitter Control & LVDS Isolation: Digital signals are reformatted and isolated using Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) circuits to minimize jitter and digital noise before sending data downstream.
  • Build Quality: Features a 1.5–1.6 mm steel chassis mounted on vibration-dampening feet, paired with a 4 mm brushed aluminum front panel. Circuit boards use double-sided nickel/gold-plated traces.
