The Naim CD5si is an entry-level dedicated CD player from British audio specialist Naim Audio. Designed as a minimalist, performance-focused component, it targets audiophiles looking for high-quality Red Book CD playback without digital extras or streaming features.

Key Features & Design Philosophy

  • Manual Swing-Out Tray: Rather than a motorized disc tray, the CD5si uses Naim’s signature manual swing-out mechanism. You pull the drawer out, place the disc, and secure it with a light magnetic puck. This design minimizes mechanical vibration, motor noise, and complex moving parts.

  • No Digital Outputs: Built strictly as an integrated CD player with its own internal DAC, it features no optical, coaxial, or USB digital outputs. It cannot be used solely as a digital transport for an external DAC.
  • No Upgrade Path: Unlike higher-tier Naim components, the CD5si cannot be upgraded with Naim’s external power supplies (e.g., FlatCap or HiCap).
  • Vibration Resistance: Uses a heavy, non-magnetic die-cast zinc/aluminum chassis to isolate sensitive internal electronics from electrical and mechanical interference.
