The Rotel DX-3 is a high-performance, compact desktop audio component released in early 2025. It is designed to be a "do-it-all" hub for personal audio, functioning as a Headphone Amplifier, a standalone DAC, and a Preamplifier.
Key Features & Internal Components
- DAC Chip: It uses the premium ESS Sabre ES9028PRO (an 8-channel 32-bit DAC), which allows for high-resolution playback and exceptional clarity.
- Power Supply: Features an in-house manufactured toroidal transformer. This is a Rotel hallmark, providing a very quiet, stable power foundation that minimizes electrical noise.
- Balanced Design: The internal circuitry is fully balanced and differential, which helps eliminate distortion and crosstalk, especially when using the balanced outputs.
- Volume Control: Uses a precision NJW1195A analog controller, allowing for very fine volume adjustments in 0.5dB steps via a satisfying, knurled metal knob.
