Core Technologies

The Sydney cable uses several proprietary AudioQuest technologies to minimize distortion and noise.

• Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+): This is AudioQuest's highest grade of copper. The "Plus" indicates an even smoother surface than standard PSC, which nearly eliminates the harshness caused by grain boundaries in the metal.
• Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation: Instead of standard plastic foam, the conductors are housed in polyethylene tubes filled with air. Since air absorbs almost no energy, it prevents the "out-of-focus" distortion common in typical insulation.
• Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation (NDS): It uses three layers of carbon-loaded synthetics to prevent radio-frequency interference (RFI) from reaching the equipment's ground plane.
• Cold-Welded Silver-Plated Connectors: The plugs are made of "Purple Copper" and plated with direct silver. They are joined to the wire using high pressure (cold-welding) rather than solder, avoiding the distortion that heat and solder materials can introduce.
